The tropical rainforest
The Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly known as Zaire and formerly a Belgian colony, is a popular among tourists who are keen to visit the tropical rainforest.
It is always hot and humid in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has a rainfall of at least 1,600 millimetres per year. The best time to travel to the country depends on which part of it you wish to visit: north or south of the equator. Most rain falls between May and September in the north and between September and May in the south.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo has the biggest area of tropical rainforest, with about 10,000 different species of trees and other plants. The animals inhabiting the tropical rainforest include rare mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and baboons. The Kahuzi-Biega National Park is certainly worth a visit. It contains about 20 families of gorillas living in a protected environment.
Visa policy for Democratic Republic of Congo
The immigration authorities at N'DJILI Airport (Kinshasa) are no longer accepting the visa issued by the Consulate "Democratic Republic of the Congo" in Antwerp. The visas have to be issued by the Embassy of DRC in Brussels, which are the only ones that will be accepted by the Immigration authorities at N'DJILI Airport.
