Poor but naturally rich
With its vast swamps, mountainous regions, innumerable rivers, hot savannahs and hilly coastline, Sierra Leone is certainly worth a visit.
Sierra Leone, much of whose border is on the Atlantic, is situated between Guinea and Liberia. It has a population of about 5 million. Despite the civil war, Sierra Leone is a beautiful country with a pleasant climate. The rainy season starts in June and lasts until October and the temperature is over 25°C nearly all year round.
On the coast, the landscape mainly consists of swamps, but you will also find jungle and savannah in the interior. The jungles are a major attraction, with their large number of unusual species of animal, including 12 different species of apes and chimpanzees. You will also find a large number of species of bird in Sierra Leone.
