The Pearl of Africa
It is not without reason that Uganda has been called “The Pearl of Africa”. With its magnificent jungles, a diversity of rare animals and the source of the Nile, this is the country of choice for many adventurers.
Kibale Forest National Park, in the west of Uganda, is one of the most unusual nature parks in the world. It is a cloud forest at a height of 1,100 metres. With a bit of patience, you can see groups of over 40 chimpanzees or a beautiful red colobus. In addition to the large number of apes and magnificent trees, you can also admire a great many other mammals and birds, not to mention the 140 different species of butterfly.
The search for the source of the Nile took a long time. The Kagera, a small river in Rwanda, is actually the source river of the Nile. The Kagera flows into the Ugandan part of Lake Victoria, which is currently being smothered by a species of water hyacinth. These flowers create picturesque islands on the lake, but they are a real problem for fishermen and their nets. Moreover, they absorb all the oxygen in the water.
