The biggest Baltic country
Lithuania used to be part of the Soviet Union, but this Baltic country is now a member of the European Union. It is now time to open the doors to tourism.
Lithuania is the biggest Baltic country. Situated along the south-eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, it shares borders with Latvia to the north, Belarus to the southeast, Poland, and the Russian exclave of the Kaliningrad Oblast to the southwest. It has around 99 kilometres of sandy coastline. Especially Palanga and Neringa are interesting places to spend your holidays.
Vilnius, which is the capital of Lithuania, is a beautiful, lively city with baroque buildings, a friendly old town and a large number of restaurants and cafés. Trakai, a beautiful city only 30 km from Vilnius, and Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania and a former temporary capital, are also worth a visit.
