Passenger growth in the month of July

Friday, October 26, 2012 Brussels 9 August 2013 – During the first holiday month Brussels Airlines welcomed a total of 581,954 passengers, which is 0,6 percent more than in July 2012.

486.429 of these passengers chose for a short or medium haul flight while 95.425 flew long distance. This means that almost 1 out 6 Brussels Airlines passengers took an intercontinental flight.

This passenger growth in July is due to the expansion of the Brussels Airlines intercontinental flight offer (to Africa and USA) following the introduction of a new destination (Washington) in June and the increase of frequencies on existing African destinations. Because of this substantial capacity growth on the long-haul network, the overall seat occupancy factor slightly decreased as expected in this start-up period. The seat occupancy factor on the European network increased with 2,4 percent points to a total of 78,8 percent.

These figures do not include the passengers of the growing number of charter flights that Brussels Airlines performs on behalf of Belgian and foreign tour operators and incentive agencies. July was a top month for these charter activities.
