Your free luggage allowance depends on the class of travel and ticket type and is indicated on your ticket.

These free luggage allowances apply on flights operated by Brussels Airlines. Please note that on flights operated by codeshare partners, different luggage regulations and charges may apply.


Children between 2-11years are entitled to the same free luggage allowance as the luggage allowance for adults.
Infants-under 2yrs- not occupying a seat are entitled to 1PC max 23kg piece concept.
On top of the free luggage allowance you may also bring free of charge 1 infant's carrying basket or fully collapsible stroller/pushchair (in hold) or car seat.

Free luggage allowance on partner airlines operated flights | |
Passengers who purchase travel on a flight operated by a partner airline may be subject to the luggage policy of the operating airline. For more information, please consult the luggage allowances mentioned on your electronic ticket applies.

Brussels Airlines may refuse to carry checked luggage, which is:
- likely to endanger the aircraft, persons or property
- likely to be damaged by air carriage
- unsuitably packed
- forbidden by any applicable law, regulation or order of any State to be carried
from, into or over - unsuitable for air carriage due to its weight, size or nature
All checked luggage must be properly packed in sufficiently rigid suitcases or similar
containers to ensure safe carriage.
Every piece of luggage must show the passenger's name and address.
Checked luggage may not contain the following:
REMARK: Belgium completely prohibits the import of all fish and meat related food
items. Any breach will result in immediate confiscation of such items by The
Belgian Customs Services, without any refund of the confiscated goods. Fruit and
vegetable related food items are not subject to this ban.
It is recommended that the items below be carried as cabin or carry-on luggage:
- travel documents
- medical certificates
- business documents
- portable PCs and other electronic equipment
- musical instruments, pictures, etc.
- money, jewellery, negotiable papers
- medicines
Important
Please consider that every single luggage should not exceed the limit of 32kg. Luggage weighing more than 32 kg will not be accepted at check-in and must considered as cargo. Please contact Brussels Airlines Cargo for more information.
Remember to attach a name and address tag to your bags. Protect yourself from the possibility of burglary while away from home by using luggage tags that conceal your address. We recommend that you place a piece of paper with your name and address inside each item of luggage in case luggage tags fall off the conveyor belt between check-in and loading.
If you are travelling Business Class, your luggage will be given priority treatment. A special 'priority' label will be attached to your luggage to ensure that it is unloaded first after your flight land.
Additional baggage allowance U.S. Military personnel | |
As from travel date 1st November 2012, Brussels Airlines will allow U.S. Military personnel to travel with an additional baggage allowance, free of charge, on UA/SN operated flights. Bags must meet weight and seize restrictions.
Eligibility:
- Active U.S. military and their accompanying dependents* on personal travel: free baggage allowance of 3 pieces, 32kg max/piece, max. dim. 158 cm/piece.
- U.S. military personnel on orders and U.S. military personnel/dependents* on orders for relocation: free baggage allowance of 4 pieces of 32kg max./piece, max. dim. 292cm/piece in Economy Class or 5 pieces of 32kg max/piece, max. dim. 292 cm/piece in Business Class
* Dependents traveling with active U.S. military personnel are exempt as long as they are traveling in the same reservation. This exemption will not apply to group reservations including ten or more customers. Military ID and orders must be presented at check-in.
Applicability:
- Travel between United States/Europe & United States/Africa: United Airlines & Brussels Airlines operated flights and flight numbers only.
- Travel within Europe & between Europe/Africa: Brussels Airlines flights and flight numbers only.
Baggage connecting to other airlines will also be subject to the connecting airline's excess charges and/or oversize, overweight charges in addition to Brussels Airlines charges.
