44% of Liberia is covered by large rainforests and the country is mainly known for its magnificent African masks, fine woodcarving and special traditional clothing. Liberia is dominated by the climate of a tropical rainforest. It has a very high rainfall rate, especially in the period from May to October inclusive. Liberia has a population of about three million, but large swathes of the country still remain uninhabited. There are very few people in the south-east in particular, and most of the people live along the coast.
