Green Fares
A carbon-neutral footprint by 2050. This is the ambitious target set by Brussels Airlines and the Lufthansa Group, and we’re putting every effort into achieving it, including making our aviation emissions as low as possible. These efforts include offsetting and carbon reduction measures like the deployment of new-fuel-efficient aircraft, the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and the continuous improvement of operational efficiency. One additional outcome of this strategy is Green Fares - new fares that make more sustainable travel possible both throughout Europe and on selected intercontinental routes.
Our new Green Fares will also earn you extra Points and enable you to enjoy flexible rebooking options, as well as the extra benefits of our Economy or Business Saver fares.
Reduce and offset: Green Fares throughout…
…Europe
Choosing an Economy Green or Business Green fare, reduces your individual flight-related CO2 emissions of that flight by 20% through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The remaining 80% of the individual flight-related CO2 emissions are offset through a contribution to climate protection projects.
Green Fares also include additional status miles, flexible conditions and benefits when you book an Economy Classic or
Business Saver fare.

…the rest of the world
We now offer Green Fares on a wide range of intercontinental routes, flown by the Lufthansa Group to make your travel more sustainable.
Selecting one of the Economy Green, Premium Eco Green, Business Green or First Green fares on intercontinental routes will reduce 10% of flight-related carbon emissions by using sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs). The remaining 90% will offset by contributing to high-quality climate protection projects.
Applicable to intercontinental round-trip flights of Lufthansa Group Airlines, except for bookings to and from Japan and China, as well as for journeys starting in North and Central America.

CO2-neutral by 2050: an ambitious goal for the Lufthansa Group, but one that’s worth every effort to achieve.
Our aim is to reduce the emissions of our flights as much as possible. We shall halve our net carbon emissions by 2030 compared to 2019. The carbon reduction in this interim target has been validated by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) and is in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
In our efforts to reduce our flight-related emissions, we are investing in a modern and more sustainable fleet, implementing new technologies, promoting efficient operations and increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). As pioneers in the aviation industry, we strive for innovative solutions and efficient measures to achieve a carbon-neutral aviation industry.
