Nice is a scintillating city on the French coast with an Italian ambience and magnificent architecture.
The old centre of Nice is a major attraction for tourists. You can spend hours wandering through narrow alleys with beautiful old buildings, charming little shops and restaurants. Cours Saleya and the daily flower market always attract a lot of visitors. St. Réparate Cathedral and the churches of St. Jacques and St. François de Paule are also worth a visit. You can relax in the garden of Albert I, which was created in the middle of the 19th century.
The main tourist attractions of Nice are of course Masséna Place, the very heart of the city, and the Promenade des Anglais, a walkway along the sea. Other sights include the Russian Orthodox cathedral, the Boulevard de Cimiez and the Parc du Château. You can relax on Cap Ferrat, a small peninsula, and on one of Nice’s many beaches.
Called Bay of Angels, the littoral around Nice is famous for its blue water and smooth pebbles. Along the coast you will find several private and public beaches, such as the Carras beach. If you long for sandy beaches, then head west in the direction of Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Cannes - or go east in the direction of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Beaulieu-sur-Mer or Cap d’Ail. All these dreamy destinations are easily accessible by public transport.
