About Abu Dhabi
With its ancient architecture, lively markets and ultra-modern shopping centres, Abu Dhabi is not just important as an oil producer, since it also has much to offer tourists.
The capital of the United Arab Emirates, in the north of the country, is a lively port with modern buildings and impressive skyscrapers, alternating with large gardens, parks and green avenues. Tourists are spoilt in luxurious international hotels and large shopping centres and can choose from a wide-ranging programme of cultural events throughout the year.
Abu Dhabi’s most important sights include the Al-Hosn Palace (an ancient fort), the beautiful coastline and the famous camel races. Dubai, the other well-known city of the United Arab Emirates, is only 160 km from Abu Dhabi.
