About Phoenix
Phoenix receives a lot of tourists in the winter in particular, while in the summer, the city tends to be a stop-off point for people travelling to other destinations.
Phoenix is the capital of Arizona and is often a stop-off point for tourists on their way to California. It is very hot in the summer, with temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius. It is therefore better to visit the city in the winter. Phoenix covers a large area, with relatively few skyscrapers.
In the centre, a number of historic buildings surround Heritage Square. The St. Mary’s Basilica, for example, is worth a visit. Important museums include the Arizona Science Museum with its planetarium and the Heard Museum, which provides information about the culture and life of the indigenous Native American tribes. Another tourist attraction is the American West Arena, a multi-purpose stadium that can accommodate over 20,000 spectators.
