    About Vancouver

Vancouver is a coastal seaport city in the province of British Columbia. The city is named among the top cities worldwide for livability and quality of life, and is ethnically and linguistically one of the most diverse cities in the country. Considered one of Canada’s top destinations, Vancouver has plenty of interesting things to do and to see and is a perfect location for both outdoor and indoor activities.

Vancouver has a rich tradition in organizing major events. In 1986, the city hosted the World Exposition on Transportation and Communication. The SkyTrain, Vancouver’s metropolitan rail system, and the Canada Pavilion were built for EXPO 86 and remain up until today among the most important landmarks of Vancouver. In 2010, Vancouver co-hosted together with Richmond and Whistler the XXI Olympic Winter Games and in 2015, several matched of the FIFA Women’s World Cup were played in the iconic BC Place Stadium.

The combination of modern skyscrapers, Edwardian buildings in the old downtown and the surrounding nature have turned Vancouver into a major film location over the past few years, known as Hollywood North. Besides the film industry, the city has also become a centre for software development, biotechnology, aerospace, video game development and animation studios.

    Around Vancouver

With its proximity to the ocean, mountains, forests and lakes, the Vancouver area is a popular destination for outdoor recreation. The North Shore Mountains are situated at only a 30 minute drive from the city centre and offer several ski areas for some winter fun. In summer, it’s the perfect location for mountain bikers thanks to the large selection of biking trails.
