    What to do in Vilnius?

    1. Visit Vilnius’ Old Town. The historic centre of the city is both a tourist haven and a bustling shopping district frequented by locals. It has plenty to offer fashionistas, foodies and architecture fans alike. If you love to stay in places with plenty of history, there are a number of hotels in Vilnius’ Old Town which exude the vintage charms of this city.
    2. Take a walking tour and explore Vilnius' architecture. The Lithuanian capital was built with an intriguing mix of influences and there are several tours that take in the key sites. Places to visit include the baroque St Casimir's Church, with its striking black crown; the 16th-century Gates of Dawn, and Vilnius University, one of the oldest in the region.
    3. Take a trip to Trakai Castle. Just a few kilometres outside of Vilnius, this island castle is a key tourist attraction. Built in the 14th century, and since restored, it’s now a fairy-tale getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    7. Sports fans can view a match at LFF stadium in Vilnius. Zalgiris, the home team, is one of the most important Lithuanian football clubs, having produced many of the country's top international players. The club has a rich history dating back to 1947.
    8. If you love shopping, you’ll have plenty of fun in Vilnius. Things to do include a trip to "Gedimino 9", a small, upmarket mall in a grand building on Gediminas Avenue.     Cultural events in Vilnius

    • The Christopher Summer Festival, the largest in Lithuania, takes place from July to August. This music event takes in a range of genres, with dozens of concerts.
    • To mark the end of summer, the multi-art form festival, Vilnius City Fiesta, takes place at the start of September. Drawing audiences of over 300,000 people, all the events at this festival are completely free and open to the public.
