The Airbus A320neo (neo stands for “New Engine Option”), is the newest addition to our fleet. This aircraft brings significant environmental and comfort improvements. With innovative engine technology and enhanced aerodynamics, the A320neo consumes up to 20% less fuel than earlier aircraft types. It also reduces the noise footprint during take-off by around 50%, making every flight more sustainable and quieter.
Larger overhead bins provide 40% more storage space, and can hold 60% more suitcases, as these can be stowed vertically in the compartments. This makes the boarding process faster and smoother.
The aircraft is equipped with the LEAP-1A engine from CFM International. The new, significantly larger engines can save a further 3.700 tons of carbon equivalents per aircraft and year. In addition to the reduced fuel consumption, the Neo also has a larger range of about 500 kilometres compared to its predecessor.
The 2.40-metre-long wing tips, so-called sharklets, will save an additional 800 tons of carbon equivalents per aircraft per year.
As of December 2025, Brussels Airlines operates six Airbus A320neo aircraft. Alongside two additional A320neo aircraft arriving in the near future, a further five will be phased in from 2027 onwards. In total, these upcoming deliveries will expand the Brussels Airlines A320neo fleet to 13 aircraft. Brussels Airlines deploys the A320 family across its short- and medium-haul network.
The new aircraft will mainly replace older-generation planes (Airbus A319).
