In 2024, Brussels Airlines organized the “Design your Belgian Icon” contest to create its next Belgian Icon. More than 900 drawings were submitted, showcasing the creativity and talent of participants from across the country. After a public vote, the top five designs were presented to an external jury.
The winning design, “The Atomium”, created by Thomas Faes (Faes Architecture), was selected for its striking and imaginative interpretation of the Atomium’s nine interconnected spheres. This design perfectly reflects Brussels Airlines’ ambition: to represent the best of Belgium to the world.
